WHO AM I?

TEACHER

I am a former elementary school teacher with seven years in the general education classroom and four years of working with kids with autism. Working with kids comes natural to me and is one of my greatest loves. I taught 3rd grade and 1st grade in the classroom and have been working with multi-aged students with autism for the last couple of years. Building relationships and seeing smiles on my students' faces brings me the most joy.

I started my masters in special education and applied behavior analysis in hopes of perfecting my classroom management skills which took me on a whole new journey within the realm of my teaching career and beyond.

AUTHOR

Writing has always been a part of my life. I have always been multipassionate. While my love for kids trumped my choices for my college major, I always had writing as a career in the back of my mind. I decided to take matters into my own hands and self publish my first book. It was the perfect plan to mix my love for teaching and writing together into a book about my life as a teacher. Since then, I have been writing mini stories and social stories. Writing has gone by the wayside since having kids, but now that I am finding my groove, there will be more writing adventures for me.

BEHAVIOR THERAPIST

I learned about behavior analysis in 2020 and became so excited about the possibility of perfecting my classroom management skills. Little did I know, a few short months later, I was leaving the classroom and working exclusively with students with disabilities in their homes. While, in home work is very rewarding, I prefer being in the classroom. My goal is to turn my knowledge of behavior analysis and help teachers in the classroom. What I love about behavior analysis is that the skills can be transferred to many different subjects, especially within my motherhood journey.

MOM & WIFE

By far, my favorite thing that I have done is become a wife and a mom. Creating a family with my best friend has been the start of an adventure of a lifetime.

Don't get me wrong, motherhood is hard. Especially when there are so many external voices telling you what is right and wrong. Leaning into my intuition and doing what is best for my family has been the greatest peace. I am passionate about birth and breastfeeding and love all birth stories. If all that comes out of this is that you message me and we connect over birth stories, I would be overjoyed.

Imaging a 9 year old Tarah being obsessed with Laura Ingalls WIlder. I always said I was an anachronism (with me being born in the wrong timezone). My dream of having land and a garden and living in a cozy house came true in 2021. I love hanging out with my chickens and sheep while my daughter picks the ripe tomatoes from our garden and eats them straight from the vine. I love the open spaces, the clouds, and freedom to dream and wonder without all the noise (literally).
